About the Journal

The proposal was born in 1992 through the Master in Educational Communication that sees the need to bring to other instances the various research processes that were carried out in the program and in the university, thus fulfilling the institutional mission and vision, contributing to the areas of knowledge in relation to Communication and Education and nearby aspects such as culture.

The journal has been at the time in Publindex which is the highest instance in Colombia against the indexing system of scientific journals, likewise the project has participated in the internal calls against the "Curriculum of the editor" of MinCiencias that seeks to contribute to the qualifications of this type of proposals.

The Miradas journal, which in its time had presented its work in physical format (ISSN 0122944X), today also does it through the network under the OJS system (Open Journal System) to bring these publications to other digital scenarios (ISSN 25393812) as a dynamic of cyberculture and open access, respecting the codes of ethics.

The journal is part of indexing in Worldcat, Education source (EBSCO), Fuente Académica (EBSCO) and LatinRev (FLACSO), in addition to making its legal deposit in the National Library.

In 2019, the journal becomes a faculty project, which is why the Faculty Council of Educational Sciences assumes the responsibility of proposing a project for the world, bringing academics to specialized and ordinary citizens, contributing to the information society and contributing to the construction of knowledge.

In 2021, the journal starts to qualify its processes and assumes a new biannual periodicity in order to contribute more actively to the processes of knowledge construction.

Mission 

Contribute to the processes of social appropriation of knowledge from the online publication and free access to the results of the research processes carried out by researchers, teachers, and students within the framework of the relationship established between communication, education, and culture.

Vision 

Publish and systematize the research results built within the framework of the relationship established between the areas of communication, education, and culture. The Journal will become a collection and consultation center for the work related to the aforementioned areas both at the regional, national, and international levels.
