Call for papers: Dossier "Ancient History in Iberian-America"
We are pleased to invite submissions for the upcoming edition of Ciencia Nueva. Revista de Historia y Política, dedicated to Ancient History, with a special focus on recent contributions from Iberian-America. This dossier aims to compile innovative research and critical analysis that deepen our understanding of ancient Greek, Roman and other Mediterranean civilizations. We are particularly interested in studies that highlight the Iberian-American perspective on the research of these civilizations. We will also value research that explores the influence of Greco-Roman antiquity on the contemporary history and culture of Hispanic-America.
Thematic Areas of the Dossier:
1. Ancient History of Greece, Rome, and other Mediterranean and Near East civilizations: We seek articles that explore the political, economic, social and cultural spheres of the ancient Mediterranean civilizations, as well as comparative studies with other cultures. Research offering new perspectives or reinterpretations of significant historical events and figures will be highly valued.
2. Current Historiographical Advances on ancient history from Hispanic-America: We invite submissions that highlight the academic production in Ancient History from an Iberian-American perspective. We accept studies that analyze the development of this discipline in the region, its challenges and specific contributions, as well as reflections on methodology and current historiography.
3. Studies of Classical Reception in Latin American History and Contemporary Hispanic American Mass Culture: We seek contributions that address the reception and reinterpretation of classical antiquity in Latin American history, both in the colonial and contemporary periods. In addition, we are interested in papers that examine the influence of classical culture on contemporary Hispanic-America mass culture, including media, literature, film, and other cultural expressions.
Ciencia Nueva is an open-access journal. All articles are published under the Creative Commons license. The journal is indexed in Scopus, Redib, Biblat, Dialnet, Latindex, LatinRev and Miar, among other databases. Submitted articles undergo a received will go through a blind peer review process to ensure the quality and academic rigor of the publications.
Original, unpublished research articles, reflections, and reviews are welcome. Contributions should be between 8,000 and 10,000 words in length. Complete guidelines for submitting contributions can be found on the Ciencia Nueva website. Manuscripts in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and English area accepted.
