Enfoque y alcance
Ciencia, Journal in History and Politics (Ciencia Nueva, Revista en historia y política), is a biannual publication promoted by the Master in History at the Faculty of Education at the Technological University of Pereira (Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira) and supported by the Vice-rectory of Research, Innovation and Extension of the institution. It is aimed at the community of researchers in the fields of history and political science, both nationally and internationally, for this reason we promote the publication of articles by foreign authors in Spanish and other languages (English, Portuguese, French and Italian).
The original purpose of New Science was to open a dissemination platform for original research in the field of history and political science in the Colombian Coffee Axis, as well as to accompany the processes of academic education and the presentation of results from research work developed from the Master in History and the Master in Political Science, carried out in agreement with the University of Salerno (Italy) between the years 2017 and 2019.
Currently, Ciencia Nueva assumes that quality and high-impact processes require a broader perspective, that does not blur the initial purpose with which it was born, for this reason it has sought to link the views of global history to integrate local processes on transnational scales. In this light, we present New Science, as a local magazine in dialogue with the global that seeks to meet the standards of high scientific quality.
Therefore, Ciencia Nueva receives articles that may be nominated for publication from various disciplinary and territorial sources. For this reason, the journal publishes original articles in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French and English that can be final reports or research advances, essays, systemization of knowledge papers on a topic of history and political science, reviews of a particular problem or bibliographic reviews.
Likewise, it seeks to consolidate a space in which primary documents or transcripts of them can be published that by their nature and difficult access, can be considered patrimonial and of relevance to a specific community.
All articles and contributions received by New Science will be submitted for evaluation by expert academic peers in the corresponding area through the "double blind" system to guarantee the publication and quality of the journal.
Mission:
Ciencia Nueva disseminates and promotes historical and political knowledge in an open and dialectical perspective with the world and other disciplines. It also builds a space for analysis, reflection, generation and development of knowledge for the qualitative and quantitative improvement of research, education and academic and scientific production of the social sciences.
Vision:
Ciencia Nueva will be a platform for the exposition and debate of historical science and political science as well as its main problems at all levels of analysis. Its publications will promote research in the different fields of history and politics, in an open relationship with all social sciences. In each issue of the journal, the reader will mainly find articles that are the result of research experiences and activities whose purpose is to cultivate reflection and promote the development and scientific feedback of academic communities.
This knowledge will benefit society through practical application as well as the theoretical enrichment of professionals and students; as well as through the opening of new thematic and methodological possibilities in research, innovations and the recognition of the collective past.
