Abstract

In a ceremony held on Friday, November 27, 2020, the Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira awarded the degree Magíster Honoris Causa in History to historian Ricardo de los Ríos Tobón, in recognition of his contributions to the development of the regional history of central-western Colombia and the creation of entities dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of historical knowledge. His speech is a synthesis of his life in the service of history.

Author Biography

Ricardo De los Ríos Tobón

(1940-2021). Ingeniero electricista y magíster honoris causa en Historia. A lo largo de su vida combinó la actividad profesional como ingeniero en importantes proyectos a nivel nacional con la investigación histórica sobre la región del Gran Caldas. Colaboró en la fundación de la Academia Pereirana de Historia y se dedicó también a la divulgación de la historia regional en medios de comunicación locales.
