Objective: Desing a mobile application as a digital support tool for completing the medical history of adults at the Antonio Nariño university of Cucuta.
Materials and methods: A semi-structured survey designed with the collaboration of experts in research methodology and dental technology was applied to 33 students from V to X semester. The content of the survey was validated through pilot testing and expert reviews to ensure its reliability and validity. An application was developed with the needs of the students and was socialized in the classrooms.
Results: It was found that certain sections were mentioned that are a priority for the development of the mobile application, specifically the periodontogram, the occlusion analysis and the odontogram, which were the areas where the need for digital interventions is felt. Sections such as radiographic analysis and plaque count were also found at a very low frequency. A system called Dentice Voice was created with voice commands for IOS and Android and was socialized with its command guide and tools for its favorable use.
Conclusions: A significant demand for digital support was found in specific sections such as the Periodontogram, Occlusion Analysis and Odontogram, reflecting a clear need to incorporate digital tools that optimize efficiency and precision in these critical areas. These sections, being the most mentioned by the participants, should be the first to be considered for the development of the mobile application. The universal acceptance of the digitalization proposal is a positive indicator of the consensus within the student community on the benefits of integrating technology into their training and future practice. In this sense, it is suggested that effectively leading change is crucial for the successful adoption of new technologies.
