Abstract

Esta investigación determina las condiciones sociales y económicas propias de la población más deprimida del área urbana de Pereira entre 2003-2007, además, señala aspectos determinantes sobre cómo dichas personas compran productos y servicios ofrecidos en la economía formal. Los resultados muestran que los mayores inconvenientes en cuanto a servicios básicos se presentan en acueducto y alcantarillado, aseo, salud, y vivienda. Asimismo, se evidencian problemas por empleo e ingresos recibidos. De otro lado, las personas de bajos ingresos compran en pequeñas porciones en tiendas cercanas a sus viviendas, prefieren productos de marcas reconocidas y tienen muy buen comportamiento de pago.
