Abstract

El Estándar DICOM se conforma por 18 documentos diseñados para el correcto funcionamiento e interconexión de sistemas destinados para la creación, almacenamiento, visualización, envío, recuperación, consulta, procesamiento e impresión de imágenes médicas; evitando la pérdida de información para que los usuarios accedan a ella bajo las mismas condiciones, lo cual se puede traducir en un diagnóstico acertado de una situación clínica por parte de un especialista. El objetivo de este artículo es describir los pasos a tener en cuenta para el diseño de sistemas que visualicen y procesen imágenes médicas, asegurando que los resultados obtenidos son una representación verdadera del mundo real.
