Los negocios tienden a tener una mayor dependencia de las TI. Los departamentos de SI, y las actividades desarrolladas, han sido tradicionalmente vistos como una área de soporte al negocio, descuidando muchas veces el uso de criterios racionales para medir su rentabilidad, eficacia y la calidad del servicio ofrecidos a toda la organización. ITIL, desarrollado a petición del Gobierno del Reino Unido a finales de los 80, recoge mejores prácticas en la gestión de los SI. Desde entonces se ha ido extendiendo su uso en la empresa privada, llegando a ser considerado un estándar de facto para gestión de la empresa.Downloads
