Abstract

Este artículo presenta un análisis del potencial de producción de una pequeña central generadora de energía eléctrica, que usa como combustible primario el Biogás proveniente del vertedero de Residuos Sólidos Urbanos (RSU) la Glorita en Pereira. Para este fin se plantea la conversión de energía mediante una planta térmica de ciclo combinado. El estudio se centra en la posibilidad de generar energía eléctrica aprovechando los residuos que constituyen en la actualidad uno de los más graves problemas de salud pública y saneamiento ambiental. El análisis aquí presentado se fundamenta en la discusión teórica acerca de la composición promedio del biogás de vertedero producido por los Residuos Sólidos Urbanos en Pereira.
