Abstract

Es difícil definir y predecir la falla de los compuestos laminados, ya que en éstos ocurren una serie de mecanismos de falla que son graduales, están interconectados y son difíciles de predecir. Este artículo discute los problemas inherentes en definir la “falla” de un compuesto laminado. Se revisan los criterios de falla utilizados más comúnmente en estos materiales y se analiza además la utilidad de estas teorías en su diseño. También, se presenta el estado actual de investigación sobre la falla de compuestos laminados. Se concluye que para estos materiales no existe una metodología de diseño satisfactoria.
