Abstract

Este artículo presenta una  caracterización físico-mecánica de los productos extraídos de la formación geológica de Toluviejo (Sucre) y optimización en la resistencia de los materiales explotados frente a la producción de concreto. Los resultados obtenidos con técnicas multivariadas permiten establecer ventajas y limitaciones del agregado que se produce para producción de concreto de mediana y alta resistencia. La sutil influencia de algunas variables en el comportamiento total de los componentes a medida que se incrementa la resistencia, así como la necesidad de acudir a adiciones para aumentar la trabajabilidad de concreto de altas resistencia que plantean relaciones agua/cemento < 0.4.
