Síntesis e inserción de complejos de tris(2,2´-bipiridina)hierro(II) y tris(2,2´-bipiridina)cobalto(II) en un mineral de arcilla

Se sintetizaron los compuestos tetrafenilborato de tris(2,2´-bipiridina)hierro(II) y tetrafenilborato de tris(2,2´-bipiridina)cobalto(II). Los compuestos se insertaron en un mineral de arcilla tipo esmectita para obtener materiales con mejores propiedades mecánicas y catalíticas. Los sólidos se caracterizaron por difracción de rayos X (DRX), espectroscopía infrarroja y análisis termogravimétrico. La técnica de DRX permitió obtener por primera vez los patrones de difracción de los compuestos sintetizados y confirmó la inserción de los mismos en la arcilla. Los materiales arcillosos fueron “pelletizados” y ensayados en la reacción de descomposición de H2O2. El sólido formado por la inserción de tetrafenilborato de tris(bipiridina)cobalto(II) en la bentonita mostró la mayor actividad catalítica.
