This paper presents a multicriterio approach for the selection of the best technology to use for the production of electricity from mineral coal. It considers both technicaleconomical and environmental criteria. As a technique for supporting the decision making, Analytical Hierarchy Process is used, in its traditional and fuzzy versions, to compare them. To illustrate the proposed approach, there is a case used in previous investigations, in which the considered criteria were: environmental impact in terms of the quantity of kilograms of carbon dioxide emitted, the total cost in dollars per installed kilowatt, coal consumption in kilograms per hour and the heat rate.Downloads
