Desarrollo de composites a partir de residuos agroindustriales potencialmente empleados en transporte masivo
Abstract
Uno de los retos que experimenta el sector del transporte masivo se relaciona con la reducción del consumo energético a través del uso de materiales de bajo peso en diferentes partes de los vehículos. Algunas de las alternativas existentes tienen alto precio o son de difícil consecución. Para subsanar esta situación, los composites reforzados con fibras naturales son una alternativa, pues combinan baja densidad y costo competitivo. Pero pueden experimentar desventajas desde el punto de vista de desempeño mecánico y comportamiento frente al fuego. En trabajo se aborda el desarrollo de composites reforzados con fibras extraídas de los residuos de la agroindustria platanera con el fin de evaluar su posible utilización en piezas para estos vehículos. Su comportamiento mecánico ha sido incrementado sometiendo a los reforzantes a tratamiento térmico con vapor, de tal forma que los materiales elaborados son viables para este tipo de aplicaciones.Downloads
