Gender equality policy

The journal Scientia et technica seeks to promote equality in all its editorial activities, recognizing the importance of equitable representation in science and knowledge. It establishes clear guidelines to ensure that practices reflect a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, eliminating any form of bias or discrimination. It is important to note that this policy applies to all individuals involved in the journal's activities, including editorial and scientific committee members, reviewers, authors, and contributors.

As a journal, this guide has been developed to ensure that manuscripts reflect inclusive and non-sexist language, aligned with the values of diversity and equality.

Objectives:

• To promote the equitable representation of all individuals and/or genders involved in the journal's work.

• To guarantee evaluation and publication processes free from all types of bias or stereotypes.

• Provide certificates of scientific contributions to all individuals who request them.

• Promote non-discriminatory language in published content.

Use of Inclusive Language

• Avoid sexist terms: Write in a way that includes all genders.

Example: Use "researcher" instead of "researchers."

• Use neutral or inclusive alternatives: When possible, use neutral or dual forms (the authors or whoever participates).

• Adjust examples and descriptions: Ensure you do not perpetuate gender stereotypes in texts or examples.

• Gender context: If the article addresses issues related to gender, diversity, or inclusion, be sure to include an appropriate discussion of the social, ethical, or cultural impacts.

• Intersectional research: Consider approaches that analyze how gender interacts with other factors, such as race, ethnicity, age, or disability, within the context of the study.

Based on the Gender Equality Policy, this journal seeks to encourage the general public to adopt practices that promote equity and inclusion in their manuscripts, taking into account all the rights acquired by men and women, regardless of what the individual wishes to represent. This will be received with the utmost respect by all members of the editorial team. However, as this is a scientific research journal, the use of -@, -x, and -e is requested to be reserved exclusively for colloquial contexts and texts, as these fall outside the scope of the journal. Likewise, authors are encouraged to respect the use of feminine and masculine forms when appropriate, adhering to standard Spanish usage. This is a powerful tool that can foster equality and inclusion or, conversely, perpetuate stereotypes and inequalities.
